Two Columbia Middle School students and a CMS science teacher went to Space Camp this summer, participating in activities such as building and launching rockets, experiencing weightlessness in an astronaut-training simulator and simulating space travel preparation. The trip was made possible by the Northrop Grumman Foundation.

We are saddened to hear about an incident that occurred Sept. 5 at Fremont High School that resulted in the arrest of a student in the Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD). Although not our district, nor our schools, we are nevertheless concerned about any person whose words or actions threaten our local community.
Research tells us that the strategic use of technology in the classroom adds enormous value to the learning process. But to realize its benefits, it is imperative that we thoughtfully and intentionally integrate it into instructional plans designed to support specific learning objectives.
Our job as educators is to connect with our children — to identify the best way to draw out the unique potential that lies within each so they experience learning in a way that excites them and inspires them to seek education throughout their lives.
